We have strong, readable key key frames that are as charming and expressive as they are functional and communicative of mechanics and purpose. What we have here is the best of both worlds: using 2D design principles with fluid 3D models. I think you can tell from my current profile picture that I highly approve of the Super Mario Bros. I know it's been already a month or so since it was announced, but after so many years of New Super Mario Bros, it's still taking time for my brain to register that this is what 2D Mario looks like now. I have high expectations and I honestly don't think I will be let down! If a single trailer showed us that much wackiness and zany ideas then I can't even imagine how the final game will be.īut, again, opinions are opinions, if you would have preferred a Yoichi Kotabe-stylized 2D Mario game instead with 2D animation and artwork, there's nothing wrong with that! I do think what we got is so much better, but again, that's just my opinion! I'm curious to see what people think. This game looks like it will easily be the best 2D Mario game for me, by far. I love how this Mario game isn't afraid to change up what we've known and grown accustomed to! wonderful and stylized! I can't believe the Koopas and Goombas look a little skinnier than usual and a bit off model, would NEVER have expected that from a modern mainline Mario game, but it's so awesome and I bask in the stylization! Peach and Daisy also look a little shorter than usual, and it's really cute. games, which is a great thing as 3D World feels like it just has so much more soul than any of those games. But this looks more like a "2.5D Super Mario 3D World" than any of the New Super Mario Bros. I won't lie, I was kind of down on the idea of a 2D Mario game. Does this not just put a smile on your face?
